Assignment 10/27/14 Photo Assignment

As we explore our world and surroundings, we capture images and memories of our everyday life.
You will be taking photographs of each of the following subjects:
Selfie
Do I need to explain?
Check out Finnish artist’s Iiu SusirajaAnti-Selfies

Reflection-
Create a self-portrait that incorporates your reflection.  Scan your environment and discover your reflection in windows, glass objects, liquids, or shiny utensils and objects.  We’ve all seen too many bathroom mirrors selfies; please spare us.

Shadow-
Each morning I appear
To lie at your feet,
All day I will follow
No matter how fast you run,
Yet I nearly perish
In the midday sun.
Find an interesting location to capture your shadow.  Think about location and again your surroundings.
How do the shadows differ throughout the day?
A Walk in Nature
Go for a walk in nature and photograph from a meditative state of mind.  Shoot wide shots of nature as well as close-up details.

Head in the Clouds
Record the sky whether it be the sunrise, sunset or cloud formations.

I took a workshop with Alessandra Cave and was motivated to pick up a camera.  This project was inspired from sections of her book, Shooting with Soul and by what I found from looking through the lens (even if it is an iphone) and hunting for the right shot.  It’s a scavenger hunt of sorts but it’s also a time for you to reflect on your perception of the world and how you communicate that though images.
You will start this assignment today and send me your 5 bestphotos mkenny@sierranevada.edu
The five photos will address each of the above subjects.
Save your images- do not delete them, just in case I am unable to upload, didn’t receive, etc.  We will look at the photos on an upcoming content day and incorporate them in an assignment.

Innovative Idea

My innovative idea would not only cut back on emissions and benefit the environment, but it would also make transportation a lot more fun. The idea is what I call Urban Zip-lining. People who want to utilize this system have to buy a battery backpack that hooks up to a zip-line allowing you use electricity to zip -line down and up hill slopes. Although the idea might sound a little unrealistic, after doing research it is actually much more practical than I originally expected. It offers practically free Travel, eliminates traffic, reduces emissions that damage the earth, and is a whole lot of fun too.

New ski/ski edge

My innovative idea would be to create a new type of park ski with stronger edges. This is persist problem within park skiers. We always destroy our skis very quickly because we hit rails and the edges break, and then the skis crumbles apart. I would like to work with a ski company to try to find a new metal or combination of metals to make a ski last longer. This would directly help skier in the park and eventually all over the mountain.

Innovative idea

My innovative idea is a skiers/snowboarder app. Currently there are no apps that skiers can easily access competition point, pro updates, resort promotions, weather updates, count down to first day ext. In this app I would hope to incorporate a current online forum called Newschoolers, this would involve contacting the head of the website and creating some sort of business deal. Mountains and resorts also have no way to directly promote their information to their buyers. With this app would allow push notifications to be sent to someone’s phone about season pass deals, day pass deals, competitions and special events.  Another feature to this app I would like to have is AFP, USSA and USASA rankings. When you are a competitive skier or snowboarder logging into each of theses websites is a pain, having one account with all of these and your ranking readily available would we amazing. To start this app off I would need to contact at least 5 mountains who would be willing to invest in the app, along with getting all of the organizations and websites onboard with the ap. This innovative specifically targets skiers and snowboarders (many SNC students).

Innovative Idea

My innovative idea consist on opening a new modern/urban skate shop in Incline Village. There is not a skateboard shop in Incline Village. This shop will comprise of all your skateboard essentials (apparel, shoes, decks) and more. This skate shop will support anything local and also carry exclusive products such as Supreme, Billionaire Boys Club, and many more designer/street wear products.  This shop will also include a photography section and host a rare vintage consignment. This skate shop will also host local community BBQ's, demos, and giveaways. As the business expands we would like to give back to the community and build a local skate park for the community to enjoy. Money generated from the skate shop, 10% of each product that sold, will go into preserving a natural land trust with recycled raw materials to build stages to host festivals and concerts.

Innovative Idea

My Innovational idea would have a major impact on SNC athletics and SNC student well being. I believe That an indoor sports complex should be put together for all the athletic teams. An all season training facility with a field and a gym. The entire complex can be free for all student, the fee should be included in the tuition. The teams will have designated training days that everyone else knows about. The facility would be used and loved by all students. Down to the serious trainer or the every day student.
